Radio killed the video star – Part 2
Buggered the first five mins of the event, but managed to pull it together and sort it out. In the end, we had 358 listeners over a 35 min period. Our maximum number of simultaneous listeners was 77. Well down on the 300 max I had set at the server level to throttle my bandwidth. The stream’s bitrate was 32k, same as RTE’s radio streams. Overall reception by listeners was positive, after the echoing problem at the beginning was sorted. Comments of various forums were mostly about the content rather than about the stream quality itself. That’s always a good sign. We have a video and higher quality audio recording up as a podcast on the website, we’ll see how that does. Next event is at the end of the month where we’ll be doing a live audio and text commentary on the website of an event. Going to be getting in a professional commentator in for this.
